The Library System welcomes the Lancaster Science Factory to the Family Museum Pass Program!   The Library System of Lancaster County is pleased to announce the addition of the Lancaster Science Factory to its successful Family Museum Pass Program! Thousands Participated in the 8th Annual One Book Campaign! South Central Pennsylvania’s One Book, One Community campaign enticed thousands of area residents to read The Help by Kathryn Stockett and participate in a wide variety of community-based programs that focused on the issue of civil rights in America.  The regional reading campaign, now in its eighth year, was the first of its kind to be launched in Pennsylvania.  Read the full release…

Quarryville Library Invites Artists to Be a Part of Their Open Painting Show   Local Artists are invited to enter one or two paintings for this special exhibit by bringing them to the library on January 10 from 3:00 – 8:00 pm.  The show will be displayed from January 15 – February 20, 2012.  For complete details, click here.

Library System adds Easy Access to Classic E-Book Texts to their Online Catalog! The Library System of Lancaster County is pleased to announce the addition of over 400 records for classic, digitized texts to their online catalog made available by the Project Gutenberg website.  Read more to find out how you can access them! 

Manheim Township Public Library to Host Holiday Art Show Featuring Student Works! The Holiday Art Shows also includes a special exhibit in the Morgan Center by students from the Millersville University Art Department entitled “From Realism to Abstraction”. Artist’s Reception on Wednesday, November 30 from 5:30 – 8:00 pm at the library is free and open to the public.  

Five Below® Holiday Fundraiser for Public Libraries Starts December 3rd!   Help us raise funds for children’s library programs. It’s easy to participate!  See your local librarian for a special flyer for Five Below® stores. Bring the flyer with you when you shop beginning Saturday, December 3rd through Friday, December 23. Join the Yurtfolk for an “around the world” adventure at public libraries! The Yurtfolk — LuAnne Harley and Brian Kruschwitz — will be visiting public libraries throughout Lancaster County as they present an interactive time of exploring folk music, stories and folk dance from around the globe. Pequea Valley Public Library Receives $25,000 Ressler Mill Grant! The Pequea Valley Public Library is pleased to announce that the Ressler Mill Foundation gifted $25,000 to the library to benefit youth.  Celebration of the news and the first purchase of resources with the funds will happen at a special presentation at the library’s Toddler Storytime on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:00 am.  Countywide Summer Reading Program @ Local Public Libraries Starts on June 1  Are your children and teens looking for exciting activities this summer? Lancaster County’s local public libraries have the answer with their 2011 Summer Reading Program. “One World, Many Stories” is the children’s theme for the 2011 Pennsylvania Summer Reading Program and “You Are Here” is the teen theme.  Both reading programs begin on June 1st and will run until August 6, 2011. Council of Friends of Lancaster County Public Libraries to Celebrate their 11th Annual Author Luncheon featuring Sarah Blake, New York Times bestselling author!   Sarah Blake, bestselling author of The Postmistress will appear at the 2011 National Library Week Author Luncheon on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Eden Resort, 222 Eden Road, Lancaster.  The Council of Friends of Public Libraries, Aaron’s Books and the Library System of Lancaster County will host this event, which is a fundraising event for public libraries in Lancaster County.

Pennsylvania’s One Book, Every Young Child Campaign will be celebrated at Public Libraries in Lancaster County!  Lancaster County’s public libraries and early learning centers will participate in the 6th annual One Book, Every Young Child statewide early learning initiative, to highlight both the importance of early literacy development in preschoolers, ages 3-6 years and specifically the vital role that adults have fostering that development.
